CHICO, Calif. – There is a new cookie store in town! 'Crumbl’ opened just 3 weeks ago on East Avenue in Chico. Co-Owner Jon Rouse said so far, the store has received a warm welcome.
The store bakes fresh cookies every day, all day. There are 200 flavors. The store offers Chocolate Chip and Sugar Cookies every day and several other flavors that alternate weekly.
Rouse said because they bake so many, they always have leftovers at the end of the day. Those cookies are donated to local charities; The Salvation Army, The Torres Shelter and True North Housing Alliance. Rouse said everyone is able to enjoy a cookie.
'Crumbl' hired 45 employees. Rouse said many of his new hires told him they were grateful to have a job during the pandemic.
Rouse said some shared how difficult it had been to pay their bills.
"Many employees I do have, mentioned it's been super difficult to find a job locally, in town and lot wanted to be hired,” Rouse said. “So, I have a lot of employees very hungry to work and that's been a great positive thing, but it's also been great for them because many were having difficulty paying rent."
Rouse admits his cookies are delicious, but the best reward is giving back to the Chico community.
The 'Crumbl' in Chico is the only store North of Sacramento. A new store will open in Yuba City in July.
'Crumbl' is located on East Avenue, next to the Verizon Store.
