Kristen Bell’s Everything Cookies Are Loaded With So Many Goodies, but Are Still Simple to Make - POPSUGAR

cookies.indah.link

tmp_ameLio_8a721497ddeb9876_DSC01753.jpg

After making Michelle Obama's chocolate chip cookies, I was convinced you couldn't possibly fit any more goodies into a single batch of cookie dough. That was until I discovered Kristen Bell's version on TikTok. While the former First Lady's recipe consists of "everything but the kitchen sink," Kristen's recipe goes "balls to the kitchen walls." It's chock-full of basically every ingredient you could imagine in a cookie, and it can easily be made gluten-free too.

Kristen's everything cookies start off like a basic cookie dough with butter and brown sugar, but quickly take a left turn, because she adds in a whole teaspoon of vinegar. It might make you do a double take to add vinegar to a dessert, but just trust the process. Vinegar is actually a common substitute for yeast, and though it's usually used as a leavening ingredient in bread rather than cookies, by the taste of these ones, it's safe to say Kristen knows what she's doing.

The base flavor of the dough is reminiscent of a classic snickerdoodle, as Kristen uses vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg, then adds an extra hint of natural sweetness from agave nectar and applesauce. Cookie recipes usually use either applesauce OR egg — depending on whether it's vegan or not — but this one uses both. It also has three other mix-ins — chocolate chunks, butterscotch chips, and rolled oats. The end result is a uniquely delicious oatmeal-snickerdoodle-chocolate-chip-cookie hybrid. And don't be intimidated by the volume of ingredients in this recipe because the more you build on the flavor, the better they'll taste. Get your glass of milk ready, and keep reading to see how to make these insanely soft, chewy, and delicious cookies.

Kristen Bell's Everything Cookies Recipe with Photos

Ingredients

  1. 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
    1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
    1/2 cup light brown sugar
    1/4 cup agave nectar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (Nielsen-Massey vanilla extract for gluten-free version)
    1 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
    1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vinegar (white or apple cider works)
    1 large organic egg
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup all-purpose unbleached flour (use 3/4 cup coconut flour for gluten-free version)
1 1/2 cups rolled oats (Bob’s Red Mill Gluten-Free Rolled Oats for gluten-free version)
    1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup butterscotch chips (Guittard Butterscotch Baking Chips for gluten-free version)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Beat together the butter, applesauce, sugar and agave nectar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and vinegar until fairly smooth. Then beat in the egg until smooth.
  2. Add the baking soda and flour and mix well. Add the oats and both kinds of chips, stirring to combine.
  3. Drop dough balls of about two level tablespoons (using a tablespoon measure, not a dinner spoon) onto cookie sheets. Space the cookies two inches apart — leave plenty of room because they will spread out!
  4. Bake the cookies for 12 to 14 minutes, reversing the pans halfway through (top rack to bottom, bottom to top). For softer cookies, bake for the shorter amount of time; for crunchier, the longer. Cool the cookies on the pan for two minutes, then transfer them with a spatula to a wire rack to cool completely.

A Crumbl Cookies shop is on the way to the Med City.

The gourmet cookie bakery has lined up space at 2665 Commerce Drive NW in the commercial center anchored by US Bank. It will be sandwiched between Ootori Sushi and Jersey Mike’s Subs, according to Crumbl Area Supervisor Jess Conard.

Two couples – Sharmaine and Brian Howell plus Christine and Mark Howell – will be the owners of the Rochester location.

The hope is to open this summer, possibly as soon as late June.

This will be the third Minnesota location. The Utah-based Crumbl, which describes itself as the “nation’s fastest growing gourmet cookie company” with almost 80 locations, already has shops in Apple Valley and Maple Grove.

It follows a premium bakery model, similar to Nothing Bundt Cake. Focus on a limited, but gourmet product line.

Each week, Crumbl’s menu rotates to feature four different specialty cookies. However, it always has its two big sellers, milk chocolate chip and chilled sugar cookies, available.

Some of the Crumbl specialty cookie flavors include Biscoff Lava, Funfetti, Coconut Lime, Chocolate Caramel, Cranberry Vanilla, Nutella Sea Salt, S’Mores, Orange Creamsicle, and more.

In addition to gourmet cookies, the shops offer a selection of premium ice cream flavors as well as a cold glass of milk to pair with the cookies.

Trader Joe’s Now Sells Brown Butter, But Was Is It & How Do You Cook with It? - SheKnows

cookies.indah.link

We’ve heard of — and tried — all kinds of butters: nut butters, cookie butter, and, of course, the OG peanut butter. But now, Trader Joe’s has launched a brand-new butter, Brown Butter, and we can’t be the only ones who haven’t tried or cooked with brown butter, right?

“I have never heard of brown butter until now!” writes Trader Joe’s List (phew!), who adds that it tasted “very smooth, mildly nutty and slightly creamy.”

For $5.99 a container, Trader Joe’s Brown Butter is described as “100 percent butter with a slightly nutty flavor.” And for those who have never tried it before, that’s exactly what brown butter is: regular butter that’s been cooked until it’s transformed into a silky brown sauce and boasting a nutty, bold flavor. According to Martha Stewart, the French even call this butter “beurre noisette” — or “hazelnut butter” — because it’s what your kitchen ends up smelling like after making what Stewart describes as a “secret weapon.”

Brown butter is super versatile and can be used in a variety of dishes, from pairing with poultry and polenta to elevating the flavor of your next batch of cookies.

“Makes the best chocolate chip cookies ever!” Trader Joe’s Treasure Hunt comments on Trader Joe’s List’s IG post. Other recommend adding to gnocchi, while others rave that it’s delicious with mashed potatoes.

One of the more popular recipes that use brown butter in cookies is Ambitious Kitchen’s Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies. They’re made with dark brown sugar, two types of chocolate chips, a sprinkle of sea salt and brown butter.

“Will these brown butter chocolate chip cookies change your life? The answer is YES,” Ambitious Kitchen writes.

Butter Cookies

A Duchess Cookies location will be opening in Patchogue this spring - GreaterPatchogue

cookies.indah.link

The storefront at 18 East Main Street in Patchogue — a former candy shop — will still serve as a spot to keep locals’ sugar cravings satisfied.

The owner of Duchess Cookies, a rapidly growing boutique cookie shop chain, won village Planning Board approvals Tuesday night.

It will likely open later this spring in the former location of Sensationally Sweet, which closed in the spring of 2020.

Before opening its first store this past December in Plainview, Duchess Cookies had already amassed over 50,000 Instagram followers.

It was a following fueled by photos of founder and president Sofia Demetriou’s owey goowy creations — from the purple and black Galaxy cookie, stuffed with milk chocolate ganache, to the Cookie Monster, a chocolate chip cookie encased in a blue sugar cookie.

Since starting in 2017, Demetriou relied on Internet buzz for sales, and entered licensing agreements with other sweet shops such as Milk and Cookies and Rush Hour Cookies, to sell her brand.

Now, after a tumultuous year for many businesses, the baker who first cut into the business with a cake shop 15 years ago, is seizing on the opportunity to expand.

“The pandemic definitely gave us a little bit of a boost because, surprisingly enough, people love comfort food and cookies and stuff like that when they’re stressed out,” Demetriou said. “So, you know, we thought that ‘oh no, all the sudden the pandemic hit, were done.’ It actually kind of pushed us along even more.”

Patchogue is not the only Duchess Cookies storefront that will crop up in the coming weeks. Demetriou expects to see her Oceanside and Islip locations open up next month as well.

“It’s like every week we’ve got a new opening going on,” she said.

Between her new openings this year — as well as her partner store sales — she said her cookies will be sold at 23 locations in the Tristate area by summer.

Line up early

Visitors to the Patchogue location can expect hot cookies every day.

Demetriou said her 5-ounce cookies will be made in her Ronkonkoma factory, delivered frozen, and heated every hour for her cookie cravers.

Staples that Duchess veterans have come to expect — like the Galaxy and the Cookie Monster, as well as the Unicorn and Funfetti — will be in typical rotation, alongside new, “wacky flavors” Demetriou said.

Among them: the “chocolate covered strawberry,” “German chocolate chunk,” and the “acai bowl.”

With nearly 150 flavors in her recipe book, some of her cookies are only rolled out on a seasonal basis.

“We’re gonna be dropping new flavors every week all summer, so it’s gonna be an interesting summer,” Demetriou said.

She is also introducing what she calls Twissles, or “two different flavored cookies fused together to kind of produce a starburst pattern,” she explained. “And they’re filled as well.”

Blueberry lemonade and chocolate cherry cola are among the first twissles customers can expect.

Demetriou, whose former cake shop opened in East Meadow 15 years ago, said her cookies do not stay on the shelves for long whenever, whether they’re in a new town or not.

“We always sell out during opening week. It’s always kind of crazy,” she said. “But the good thing is the factory’s close, so we could always make sure they have brand new stock.

“We’ll be working extra hard.”

Girl Scout cookies take flight in Virginia drone deliveries - North State Journal

cookies.indah.link
In this April 14, 2021 image provided by Wing LLC., Girl Scouts Alice, right, and Gracie pose with a Wing delivery drone in Christiansburg, Va. The company is testing drone delivery of Girl Scout cookies in the area. (Sam Dean/ Wing LLC via AP)

Missing out on Thin Mints in the pandemic? A Google affiliate is using drones to deliver Girl Scout cookies to people’s doorsteps in a Virginia community.

The town of Christiansburg has been a testing ground for commercial delivery drones operated by Wing, a subsidiary of Google’s corporate parent Alphabet.

Now the company is adding the iconic boxed cookies to the more mundane drugstore offerings, FedEx packages and locally-made pastries, tacos and cold brew coffees it’s been hauling to a thinly populated area of residential subdivisions since 2019.

Wing said it began talking to local Girl Scout troops because they’ve been having a harder time selling cookies during the pandemic, when fewer people are out and about. The organization jumped on the new twist to its skills-building mission.

“I’m excited that I get to be a part of history,” said 11-year-old Gracie Walker, of the Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline Troop 224. “People are going to realize and be, like, ‘Hey, this is better for the environment and I can just walk outside in my pajamas and get cookies.'”

It’s the latest attempt to build public enthusiasm for futuristic drone delivery as Wing competes against Amazon, Walmart, UPS and others to overcome the many technical and regulatory challenges of flying packages over neighborhoods.

Federal officials started rolling out new rules in mid-April that will allow operators to fly small drones over people and at night, potentially giving a boost to commercial use of the machines. Most drones will need to be equipped so they can be identified remotely by law enforcement officials.

The 10-pound Wing drone that made the first deliveries in Christiansburg in fall 2019 is already an artifact held at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. Whether it will go down in history as a revolutionary innovation or a utopian flop remains to be seen.

Amazon has also been working on drone delivery for years. In 2013, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos said in a TV interview that drones would be flying to customer’s homes within five years, but that deadline has long since passed. The company did win government approval to deliver packages by drones last August, but Amazon said it was still testing them and hasn’t started delivering goods to shoppers yet.

David Vos, an aerospace engineer who led Google’s Wing project until 2016, said he has been surprised that drone delivery ventures haven’t taken off more quickly.

“I thought it was completely doable to be up and going by 2021,” Vos said. While he still thinks drone technology is getting closer to delivering the size, weight and power needed to transport goods safely in populated places, Vos said the tech industry also needs a cultural shift.

In particular, he said, it needs to bring on people from the traditional aviation industry who have experience building “safety-critical systems” that meet strict performance standards.

Wing’s drones are able to navigate autonomously — without a human pilot controlling them remotely — and are powered by two forward propellers on their wings and 12 smaller vertical propellers. When a drone reaches its destination, it hovers above the front lawn as a tether releases to drop the package.

“It was so smooth and it didn’t shake,” said Walker, who, before her troop added drones to its sales strategy, would don a mask and set up a cookie booth outside a home improvement store. “They look like a helicopter but also a plane.”

There’s not much evidence that consumers have been clamoring for drone delivery, and many have expressed privacy, safety or nuisance concerns when asked to imagine the noisy machines over their homes. Wing has objected to some of the FAA’s new drone rules on privacy grounds, saying the remote ID requirement could allow observers to snoop on delivery routes online.

But in a small survey of Christiansburg residents by researchers at nearby Virginia Tech that Wing helped fund, most townspeople appeared to be content with the drones.

“One of the reasons is because Virginia Tech is here and there’s an engineering culture of trying new things,” said Lee Vinsel, an assistant professor of science, technology and society who conducted the Virginia Tech survey. “And the suburban setup is easiest for drone delivery.”

That might not be the case for much denser places, he added. “Manhattan would be tough.”

Adobe wants to help businesses survive the death of third-party cookies - TechRadar

cookies.indah.link

As Google Chrome and other browsers prepare to end support for third-party cookies, Adobe has announced the next generation of its Real-time Customer Data Platform (CDP) to help brands activate known and unknown customer data.

The company's Real-time CDP allows brands to manage the entire customer profile and journey seamlessly in one system without the need for third-party cookies.

As consumers have grown more aware of the value of the data they share online, a patchwork of privacy regulations like GDPR have begun to emerge on a global scale. At the same time though, organizations remain committed to offering personalized brand experiences which they have typically relied on tracking from third-party cookies to create.

Now that Google has introduced its new tracking technology FLoC in Chrome, brands will have reduced insight about unknown visitors to their digital properties which will hurt their ability to provide a compelling customer experience.

Adobe Real-time CDP

Adobe's Real-time CDP offers brands a centralized hub that brings together different types of first-party event and attribute data to help them form a more complete view of their customers. The platform allows brands to combine first-party web, app and media data from publishers to build richer customer profiles. They can then use Adobe Target to create personalized experiences for their visitors.

As it has become increasingly difficult to get unknown visitors to register on a brand's site using their email or phone number, Adobe Real-time CDP lets brands build a prospect's profile based on brand interactions. This data is then ingested by Adobe Target and used to orchestrate the next best content, offer or experience for them.

Adobe has also added a new feature called Segment Match to its platform that lets brands collaborate to expand their own first-party data through partnerships. Look-alike Segments on the other hand allow brands to identify additional customers who share similar attributes to their best-known customers.

In a press release announcing the next generation of Adobe Real-time CDP, EVP and GM of Adobe's digital experience business and worldwide field operations, Anil Chakravarthy explained how the platform is using first-party data as opposed to third-party cookies to help brands offer better personalized experiences, saying:

“As consumers, we now expect personalized brand experiences while being in control of the data we share. With Adobe Real-time CDP, we are partnering with brands to deliver relevant, responsive and respectful experiences through first-party data.”

Brands interested in testing out Adobe Real-time CDP for themselves can request a demo for Adobe Experience Cloud on the company's site.

Girl Scout cookies take flight in drone deliveries - Blue Springs Examiner

cookies.indah.link

Missing out on Thin Mints in the pandemic? A Google affiliate is using drones to deliver Girl Scout cookies to people's doorsteps in a Virginia community.

The town of Christiansburg has been a testing ground for commercial delivery drones operated by Wing, a subsidiary of Google's corporate parent Alphabet.

Now the company is adding the iconic boxed cookies to the more mundane drugstore offerings, FedEx packages and locally made pastries, tacos and cold brew coffees it's been hauling to a thinly populated area of residential subdivisions since 2019.

Wing said it began talking to local Girl Scout troops because they’ve been having a harder time selling cookies during the pandemic, when fewer people are out and about. The organization jumped on the new twist to its skills-building mission.

“I’m excited that I get to be a part of history," said 11-year-old Gracie Walker, of the Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline Troop 224. “People are going to realize and be, like, ‘Hey, this is better for the environment and I can just walk outside in my pajamas and get cookies.'"

In 2013, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos said in a TV interview that drones would be flying to customer’s homes within five years.

Wing's drones are able to navigate autonomously – without a human pilot controlling them remotely – and are powered by two forward propellers on their wings and 12 smaller vertical propellers. When a drone reaches its destination, it hovers above the front lawn as a tether releases to drop the package.

“It was so smooth, and it didn’t shake," said Walker, who, before her troop added drones to its sales strategy, would don a mask and set up a cookie booth outside a home improvement store. “They look like a helicopter but also a plane."

There's not much evidence that consumers have been clamoring for drone delivery, and many have expressed privacy, safety or nuisance concerns when asked to imagine the noisy machines over their homes. Wing has objected to some of the FAA's new drone rules on privacy grounds, saying the remote ID requirement could allow observers to snoop on delivery routes online.

But in a small survey of Christiansburg residents by researchers at nearby Virginia Tech that Wing helped fund, most townspeople appeared to be content with the drones.

“One of the reasons is because Virginia Tech is here and there’s an engineering culture of trying new things," said Lee Vinsel, an assistant professor of science, technology and society who conducted the Virginia Tech survey. “And the suburban setup is easiest for drone delivery."

That might not be the case for much denser places, he added. “Manhattan would be tough.”

AP Retail Writer Joseph Pisani in New York contributed to this story.

Corps mom organizes fundraiser to feed cookies to entire Texas A&M Corps of Cadets - KBTX

cookies.indah.link

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - The simple act of giving someone a cookie harkened back to a nearly century-old tradition Wednesday.

Back in 1922, 11 Aggie corps moms came down from Dallas to feed the entire Texas A&M Corps of Cadets. Nearly 100 years later, another Aggie mom helped organize that same effort again.

Partnering with Crumbl Cookies and the Houston A&M Club, Aggie corps parents raised enough money to feed all 2,058 cadets and delivered maroon and white red velvet cookies to each regiment.

Jane Metz is the Aggie mom who played the largest role in organizing the event. She’s a proud corps mom of her two sons who graduated in 2014 and 2019.

”The parents just jumped in with both feet and decided that they wanted to donate, so we raised $6,000 in a week and a half to feed the entire corps, which has never been done since 1922,” Metz said.

”I’m really impressed by what she has done to feed the cadets,” Houston A&M Club President Hector Cavazos said. “I think as a former cadet myself, it’s nice to be able to give back.”

Metz said the mental health issues caused in large part by the pandemic also played a role in her decision to organize this. The cookies were delivered in boxes that included inspirational messages.

“I know the environment of the corps enough as a parent and that there was a lot of depression during COVID for some people,” Metz said. “I just felt like it was an unprecedented time where mental health was an issue, so I wanted to be able to reach out.”

Metz plans to start a nonprofit called “Everybody Needs a Cookie” so they can start doing this twice a year, once in the spring and again in the fall.

Girl Scout cookies delivered by drone? A Virginia troop teamed up with Google Wing amid COVID-19 - USA TODAY

CLOSE

Wing reached out to Christiansburg Girl Scout troop to help boost sales. USA TODAY

In Christiansburg, Virginia, Girl Scout cookies are falling from the heavens.

Well, not exactly. They are being delivered not by young girls in uniform but by Google-developed Wing drones, a futuristic twist on how to get your fill of Thin Mints.

Wing, a subsidiary of Google’s parent company Alphabet Inc., reached out to the Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline about making cookie drops to help boost cookie sales, which are still being impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Even with loosening COVID restrictions, the traditional method of selling cookies outside of grocery stores or shops is difficult this year, and sales are down about 50% from prior years,” Lia Reich, Wing global communications lead, said in a statement to USA TODAY. “It was a natural fit to partner with the Girl Scouts to help out in this situation.”

Cookies are currently available to order for drone delivery through the Wing app or website in Christiansburg until the end of May. Reich says Wing is committed to 3,000 boxes of cookies but if needed will deliver more.

The annual start of cookie season is recognized nationally in January but timing and specific cookie availability can vary by region.

For decades, cookies have been sold at booths outside grocery and other stores, door-to-door in local neighborhoods, and through family and friends bringing order forms to work to tempt their co-workers.

In March 2020, the national organization suspended door-to-door sales and in-person cookie booths because of the spread of COVID-19 and took the 2020 cookie season online. The 2021 cookie season also has had online sales and sales through "virtual cookie booths" on social media.

National Nurses Day 2021: Chipotle giving away 250,000 free burritos to nurses, health care workers. How to sign up.

Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline Council CEO Nikki Williams said there have been challenges to selling cookies in traditional ways and the partnership with Wing has helped local troops in getting cookies delivered. While the girls don't fly the drones themselves, they help prepare the orders and learn about the technology.

"We're seeing a nice response as people are learning about it,” Williams said, adding that following national sale trends, Thin Mints are the most popular drone cookie order followed by Samoas, also known as Caramel deLites in some parts of the country.

Virginia Girl Scouts weren’t the only troops handling cookie sales differently. Some girls did contactless delivery for their neighbors, dropping off boxes on doorsteps.

The Girl Scouts had a nationwide partnership with on-demand delivery service Grubhub, which ran from March 6 to April 11.

In New Jersey, troops hosted outdoor drive-by booth sales with contactless payment and one troop even got permission from an empty fast-food restaurant to sell cookies, NorthJersey.com, part of the USA TODAY Network, reported.

“The great thing about Girl Scouts is that we’re flexible and innovative,” said Betty Garger, president and CEO of Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey. “We had to be creative and flow with the times. Every business has had to adapt.”

Williams believes the program will grow and drones could one day be delivering more cookies.

“I expect that the future is going to have an opportunity for drones to be delivering to everyone across the country,” she said. “I think this is just a really great microcosm as what that can look like as we prep for the future.”

Wing drone deliveries

Wing was the first drone delivery company in the U.S. to receive an air operator's certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration in April 2019, which allowed the service to make drone deliveries in parts of Virginia.

Last week, Virginia Tech released a survey from Christiansburg – the site of Wing’s first U.S. drone delivery operations – where 87% of residents liked the idea of residential drone delivery after the first year of service in the community.

"We’ve seen incredible growth of the Wing service over the last year and a half. COVID gave people who may not have had a reason to try drone delivery a reason to, and we saw deliveries increase more than 500% in 2020," Reich told USA TODAY. "The convenience of drone delivery has not only sustained that growth but increased it, even as restrictions have lifted."

Girl Scout Cookies sales

The Girl Scout Cookie Program is considered "the largest girl-led entrepreneurial program in the world" and helps provide programming to 1.7 million girls, the national organization said.

Nationwide, cookies can be purchased on the Digital Cookie platform at www.girlscouts.org/digital-cookie where you can also find a list of troops selling near you. Supplies are limited and cookies may not be available everywhere.

If you're in Christiansburg go to Wing's website at www.wing.com/va to order for drone delivery.
