BAY CITY, MI — City Grind Coffee & Cookies has a new brunch menu.
The eatery, located inside City Market, 401 Center Ave. in downtown Bay City, serves up coffee and espresso drinks, bubble tea and hot chocolate, plus sweet and savory breakfast options to start your day.
City Grind’s new brunch options include “Avo Toast,” described as Texas toast with guacamole spread, everything bagel seasoning and arugula, “The Zesty Goat,” wheat toast with mascarpone, blueberry preserves, goat cheese and lemon zest, and “The Stud,” a customer favorite, described as a bagel with mayo, Dijon mustard, arugula, cheddar cheese, tomato and bacon.
“Breakfast is one of our personal favorite meals of the day,” said Maegan Nowak, who owns the business with her husband, Brett Nowak.
City Grind opened about three years ago when City Market did, and the Nowaks took over the business in January. They recently added the brunch menu, plus vegan treats from Grand Rapids-based Sweet Batches.
“Everything they make is vegan, but it doesn’t taste vegan at all,” Maegan Nowak said.
The new owners also plan to add mocktails to the menu soon.
“We’re always looking to expand and see what else we can try out,” she said.
Maegan Nowak said their motto is “drink good coffee and break down barriers.”
“We want them (customers) to feel welcome here,” she said. “We just really want to be there for people, get to know them where they’re at.”
City Grind is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
