Gideon’s Bakehouse at Disney Springs is celebrating its official grand opening. The bakery had previously operated in soft opening mode before a brief closure in early January.
The grand opening celebration includes limited edition cookies that are not normally offered in January. We arrived early, which was a necessity to beat the crowds that led to 12-hour-long virtual queue wait times!
The interior is themed like an occult bookstore.
Unique artwork lines the walls.
In addition to cookies, Gideon’s Bakehouse offers large cake slices.
But we’re here for the limited edition cookies!
Peanut Butter Chocolate Swirl (March) — $6
Peanut butter dough, triple chocolate dough, chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, house-made candied peanuts
True to its name, this is a layered mashup of Gideon’s chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies. The cookie is on the rich side, but it pairs the two classic flavors as well as can be done.
Instead of tasting like a blend of two cookies, it is truly like eating two separate cookies at once. It’s like getting the best of both worlds!
The Frankenstein (October) — $6
Vanilla cookie, crushed candy pieces, crushed Oreo Double Stuf, M&M’s toppings
The M&M’s dominate in this Halloween-inspired cookie. The candies are tasty and crunchy.
After the M&M’s, the vanilla cookie and Oreos take over. The combination of chocolate, vanilla, and Oreo is a mashup made in heaven.
Santa’s White Christmas Cookie (December) — $6
White chocolate chip cookie, coconut, sweet caramel, vanilla, nutty flavors, White Christmas coffee beans, coarse sugar, sea salt, Christmas glitter
Fans of white chocolate rejoice! The white Christmas cookie offers a great balance of white chocolate chips on a vanilla cookie base, and then taken to the next level with hints of coconut, caramel, and finely ground decaf coffee beans.
While white chocolate is not universally liked, this cookie pairs it so well with other flavors that we highly recommend it even to those who may not like white chocolate. Overall, this is a holiday cookie masterpiece!
The cookies are packaged to-go in stamped boxes. A Gideon’s wrapper keeps the cookies separated.
The first 1,000 guests to attend the Gideon’s Bakehouse grand opening received this limited edition gargoyle art print.
