Just in time for Valentine’s Day, festive cookies and stuffed animals are being sold locally as part of a fundraiser for Kentucky 4-H Camp programming.
The fundraiser is a partnership between the Kentucky 4-H Camping Program, area 4-H camp enthusiasts and county Extension offices throughout the state.
“Since any one of the four camps are at least a two-hour drive away from the Hardin County area, the Hardin County Extension Service is offering to place a bulk order for local pickup,” said Marla Stillwell, Hardin County Extension Agent for 4-H Youth Development.
The fundraiser is offering a set of assorted cookies, a decorate-your-own cookie kit and an assortment of stuffed animals wearing 4-H camp hoodies.
The assorted cookie box includes M&M’s, triple chocolate and red velvet cookies, along with a Valentine-themed button. Each box contains a total of 12 cookies. Cookie boxes are pre-packaged and are $12 each or two for $20.
The decorate-your-own cookie kit includes 12 heart-shaped cookies, assorted icing and sprinkles and a $5 coupon for the 4-H Camp online store. The kit also includes instructions for participants to enter into a cookie-decorating contest. Each pre-packaged kit is $20.
Stuffed animals are $10.50 or two for $20.
Stillwell said the fundraiser is designed to recoup money the Kentucky 4-H Camping Program lost in 2020 because of COVID-19-related cancellations. She said Kentucky 4-H staff from all four camps throughout the state are working together on the fundraiser.
Local pickup for bulk orders take place Feb. 12 at the Hardin County Cooperative Extension Service office, at 111 Opportunity Way in Elizabethtown. For the sake of health safety, curbside pickup is outside of the Extension Service building.
