There’s a big change happening at Leon’s Car Care Center in Eureka. After nearly 60 years of baking cookies — two Cuisinart mixers and three stoves later — Mrs. Leon is hanging up her cookie mitts.
Manager and co-owner Dale Warmuth said, “All is not lost, our many customers will be happy to know there will still be cookies!”
According to Warmuth his wife, Jeannemarie Baker, is taking on this giant task.
“My dad (Leon), sister Carrie, nephew Lucas and I are all so appreciative to Jeannemarie for agreeing to continue the tradition and to Mom for the many years she spent baking for our customers (and don’t tell her but employees, too),” Warmuth said.
Warmuth said that baking the cookies is a big job.
“My mom baked as many as 50 dozen cookies a week. That’s a lot of cookie dough. Jeannemarie will be utilizing many of my mother’s recipes with a few twists of her own.”
Leon’s Car Care Center was established in 1961.
