A Boston man was arrested Monday on charges he sold drug-laced cookies to two 15-year-old girls, who were hospitalized after eating them.
Jimmy Louissant, 25, of the Brighton neighborhood, was arrested around 5:10 p.m. Monday around Jette Court, according to a news release from the Boston Police Department. He had an outstanding warrant on two counts of distribution of Class C drugs to a minor, drug distribution in a school zone or public park and witness intimidation charges. Louissant was arraigned in Brighton District Court.
According to police records, officers they believe the cookies were laced with THC and other undetermined substances, the details of which are pending toxicology results.
Two 15-year-old girls were rushed to local hospitals Sunday afternoon after suffering from what police described as symptoms of an apparent overdose. The girls said they knowingly bought laced cookies that day near the basketball courts on Fidelis Way. The girls said they had bought other edibles from Louissant before and didn’t have bad reactions, police said.
Both teens are expected to recover, police said.
Boston police cited a text exchange between one of the girls and Louissant. In the exchange, Louissant allegedly said the cookies were stronger this time.
