Spooky season is upon us, and I am so ready to celebrate.

I’ve already begun watching some of my favorite Halloween movies, shorts, and TV shows including Mickey’s House of VillainsHaunted Mansion, Disney’s Halloween Treatand, of course, Hocus Pocus!

This year, Nestle Toll House released a new Hocus Pocus-themed cookie dough so I decided to try it out to complete my Hocus Pocus movie night this weekend. But I know sometimes people hesitate on trying something new — so that’s why I wanted to write an honest review of these cookies before you go out and buy them yourselves!

First of all — the packaging is so cute! The Sanderson Sisters are front and center and you definitely get Halloween vibes from the coloring. (They do say people eat with their eyes first, so this is super important for marketing purposes, and I think they nailed it!)

The cookie dough itself is oatmeal peanut butter and it is already pre-cut into squares. The entire block of cookie dough is topped with Reese’s Pieces scattered throughout.

As you break these cookies apart, the Reese’s Pieces do tend to fall off so once they are on the cookie sheet, just press them back in. But now, let’s get baking!

The directions tell you to pre-heat the oven to 325°F and to place the cookies approximately 2 inches apart. I found the cookies didn’t expand too much as they baked, but it’s still good not to place them too close together, otherwise you’ll end up with a big pile of mush.

The directions call for a cooking time of 13-15 minutes and this really all depends on 1. your oven and 2. your preference. If you like your cookies a bit on the raw side, definitely put them in for 13 minutes. However, if you like your cookies well done, I recommend the 15 minutes of bake time.

I baked these cookies for 14 minutes and they came out perfectly.

Be sure to let them cool on the cookie sheet before transferring to a place or cooling rack, otherwise they will instantly break and fall apart.

Let’s get to tasting!

I love when my cookies are fresh out of the oven so I tried one of these immediately and wow — they did NOT disappoint!

Warm, gooey, and absolutely delicious. If you are a fan of peanut butter — I highly recommend trying these cookies out for your next Hocus Pocus movie night.

One thing I do recommend though is if these cookies sit out and cool down, you miss out on that warm and gooeyness. So if this is how you prefer your cookies, be sure to pop them back in the microwave just for 10 seconds to warm them back up. Good as new!

And if you are looking for something to wash down these delicious cookies, be sure to try the Witches Brew, which you can find the recipe for by clicking here.
