LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Crossroads Lexington is partnering with Prairie Farms to give away 8,000 half gallons of milk on Sept. 17 and 18. And what goes better with free milk than free cookies?

The church will have individually packaged cookies and sealed half gallons of milk available for anyone who drives through the parking lot at 4128 Todds Road, Lexington 40509
at the following times:
● 2-7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 17
● Noon-5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18

Drivers can receive as much milk as they’d like and are encouraged to share with friends,
family, and neighbors.

“Over the last six months the church has had to adapt just like everyone else, and we are
doing things we never saw coming at the beginning of 2020. It’s amazing to partner with Prairie Farms to distribute fresh milk to those who can use it instead of it going to waste. We hope this is a blessing to our community,” Crossroads Lexington Community Pastor Bryan Carter said.

Prairie Farms and the dairy industry as a whole have had an oversupply of milk during the COVID-19 pandemic due to limited space on store shelves for product as fewer schools and
restaurants are using the same amount of milk as in the past.

Despite the lack of space, cows need to continue to be milked, so the company has teamed with nonprofit groups to distribute the excess product to their communities rather than letting it go to waste.

Crossroads closed its buildings in mid-March, but the church has continued to serve communities near its sites through a variety of efforts including giving 92,000 pounds of food to community partners, sewing and distributing more than 30,000 masks to frontline workers, providing 9,000 care kits for children in need, and more.

In Lexington, the church gave $15,000 to provide childcare for local healthcare workers, delivered meals weekly to kids in the Woodhill Center program, and partnered financially and in ministry with Cadentown Baptist and Mt. Calvary Baptist churches in addition to other initiatives.

Crossroads Lexington will reopen its building for Sunday services starting on Oct. 4.
