The Girl Scouts of Citrus, which has troops in Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia counties, said when the pandemic first started cookie sales were cut short leaving 19,956 unsold boxes left in storage. They decided in mid-August to turn the negative into a positive coming up with the idea for the Cookies for Heroes initiative.
