When Megan Mottley auditioned for Shark Tank in 2017, she never dreamed that audition would land her a spot on ABC’s "The View."
On Tuesday, this Memphis “Cookiepreneur” and her business Goodness Gracious Luxe Cookies were featured on the show's “View Your Deal” promotion.
Mottley’s deal of the day is 50% off her cookie mixes. Goodness Gracious’ popular cookie mixes come in four flavors — Chocolate Chip, Snickerdoodle, Classic Sugar and Oatmeal — and regularly retail for $24.99. The sale price is $12.49.
Each deal is revealed on ABC’s "The View" and is available for about 24 hours only while supplies last. The show aired at 10 a.m.
“I’m beyond excited for the one-of-a kind opportunity to bring Goodness Gracious Luxe Cookies into homes nationwide,” Mottley says. “As a mom and entrepreneur, I hope I encourage small business owners to persevere despite tough times, and I especially look forward to Memphis’ support.”
Good Gracious Luxe Cookies was born from a fundraising idea.
Four years ago, Mottley was on a mission to raise $3,000 for her teenage daughter to attend a mission trip to Japan. Her made-from-scratch cookies quickly went viral on social media, and shortly after the success of three fundraisers, Goodness Gracious Luxe Cookies was born.
“I thought this would be a one-week fundraiser,” Mottley said. “But after we raised $5,000 in eight weeks, it became the ‘master plan.’”
Mottley launched her company in 2016 delivering cookies all over the Memphis and the Mid-South area, setting up at local farmers markets and serving fresh baked cookies at various pop-up events. In 2019, she added frozen ready-to-bake cookie dough to her line of offerings.
It was in 2017 that she had auditioned for "Shark Tank" while it had a casting call in Memphis.
“There was a gentleman in the room from ‘Black Enterprise.’ He heard my pitch and then wrote an article on my audition. That’s how 'The View' found me,” said Mottley.
In addition to freshly baked cookies and frozen cookie dough, Goodness Gracious has a line of gourmet cookie mixes.
Mottley had temporarily closed her business in March when her daughter returned home from college due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The call from "The View" came just as she was making plans to relaunch her business. Mottley said she decided the flash sale would be the perfect time to relaunch.
Products on the promotion can be purchased at viewyourdeal.com immediately following the promotion's airing. Products are available for nationwide shipping. After the 24-hour flash sale, future purchases can be made at ggluxecookies.com.
Goodness Gracious' frozen cookie dough will once again be available at Curb Market starting July 30.
