After a four-month hiatus, Girl Scout Cookies are back for a limited time.
Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana (GSGCNWI) is relaunching the 2020 Girl Scout Cookie Season to give communities one more chance to access Girl Scout Cookies.
A special “GCNWI Last Chance Booth Site” will be held in several prominent outdoor locations on July 25, in the greater Chicagoland area, suburbs and northwest Indiana.
Local Girl Scout troops will also host booth site sales in area neighborhoods from now through Aug. 31 or until they run out of cookies.
For those who had hoped to purchase these seasonal favorites before sheltering-in-place, now is the chance to secure a few boxes of a favorite flavor, help Girl Scout troops finish their interrupted season and help girls reach their goals.
The Girl Scout Cookie Program is an indispensable part of the Girl Scout experience, empowering girls to build real-life entrepreneurial and business skills while providing them with the self-confidence to talk to customers about their products and the goals they set.
“This year the girls learned the power of resiliency and creativity after their cookies season was cut short by the pandemic, leaving many troops with unsold boxes of cookies," Nancy Wright, CEO of Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana, said in a news release.
"Almost immediately Girl Scouts began to figure out how to help others while still staying safe themselves,” said Nancy Wright, CEO of Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana.
"Even as they sheltered in place with their families, many Girl Scouts figured out how to offer contactless donations of Girl Scout Cookies to the essential workers and front-line employees who are keeping everyone else safe."
Any businesses or individuals interested in connecting with a local troop to purchase and donate cookies to essential workers is encouraged to contact GSGCNWI as soon as possible at girlscoutsgcnwi.org/cookies.
